Big win for Deportivo in the first-leg of the promotion playoffs, the game didn’t have too many chances to score and Yamamoto scored the winner in the second half.

Important step forward for Depor Ladies in the quest to be promoted to Liga Iberdrola 2019/20. The rival in the first round is Murcian club Alhama CF Granbibio Femenino and the first-leg was played at the Guadalentín field.

Both teams were prudent within the first minutes, the first chance to score came until minute 15, María Requena collected the ball inside the area after a lateral free-kick and she sent the ball out. The Galician gals weren’t suffering in defence, but were too thick in attack and weren’t ending properly their offensive plays.

Alhama CF were more passive, but neither suffered nor had depth in attack. The first shot on target in the game came until minute 55, and it was Lia with a low shot blocked by local goalie Mireya.

And Deportivo were going to find the goal in the next play, Alba Merino released a cross from the left and Japanese Maya Yamamoto was in the area to head the ball home. The goal brought calm to Deportivo, the gals tried long ball possessions against a rival that lasted in reacting.

The first big chance for Alhama in the game came at minute 65, it was a lateral free-kick in which Ana López headed the ball at the far post and her effort passed close to the crossbar. Two minutes later Carmen Fresnada released a lot shot blocked by Miralles.

The locals started to push and at the same time Deportivo were finding cracks in the counterattacks, in one of those plays Peke was close to score, but couldn’t define before Mireya (74’).  Alhama were desperate in the last minutes and pushed through countless set-pieces, but without creating any danger.
