Quique González has been transferred to SD Eibar. The top-scorer from last season is taking advantage of a clause in his contract allowing his exit to a Primera side if an offer for the double of his previous transfer is meet.

The club announced on Sunday that Quique González has been transferred to SD Eibar. The operation is for €3.4 million. The striker had a clause in is contract allowing that, if any Primera club will present an offer with a certain amount by July 10, then Deportivo were forced to accept that offer.

It’s exactly the same situation that happened one year before when Depor paid €1.7 million to CA Osasuna taking advantage of the same clause. Now the clause stipulated that Deportivo should release him if any offer for the double of what they paid the year before was presented, and it was SD Eibar the side that submitted the offer on last week. The agreement was reached on July 10, but it was official until Sunday as Carmelo Del Pozo wanted to announce the signing of Gaku Shibasaki on the same day.

Quique González had an explosive start in his only season at Depor; scoring six goals in his first five appearances in liga, after an expulsion against Málaga CF (October 10) his productivity decreased, but he was always there to pull goals despite the team wasn’t playing good football and neither achieved the results. He ended as the Pichichi of the team with 17 goals added to his tally, the second-best mark in the league.

Deportivo have now released three men that were under contract ahead of the new season. The first one was goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, who was loaned to AC Omonia Nicosia. And the other one is centre midfielder Edu Expósito, who was transferred to SD Eibar on Saturday.
