Deportivo announced on Friday the signing of Samuele Longo. The striker arrives loaned from Inter Milan and is expected to be the leading striker for the new season.

The club announced on Friday the arrival of Samuel Longo. The 27-year-old striker arrives loaned from Inter Milan. Initially it was commented that the operation included a buyout option, but the club hasn’t confirmed it. Sources like La Voz de Galicia reported that there’s a mandatory option in case of promotion to Primera. He is expected to be the replacement of Quique González.

Samuele Longo is a striker that has spent his entire career without been able to earn a spot at Inter Milan. He arrived to the Nerazzurri club when he was only 19 (2011), but since then spent nine loan spells trying to convince his own club, in several of those stages he did a meritorious job, but simply the sporting direction of Inter has always preferred other options.

The best of him has been seen in Spain. Been 20, he scored 3 goals in 18 Primera games played with RCD Espanyol. His best years were at Segunda during the seasons 2016/17 and 2017/18. In the first he was the top-scorer of the Girona FC that clinched the promotion to Primera (14 goals in 37 games).

One year later he landed at CD Tenerife, and again had a great performance scoring 12 goals in 24 matches. The Canarians had a buyout option of six million euros, but they didn’t have the resources to fulfill it. Last season, he was loaned to SD Huesca at Primera, but only spent six months there.

Longo scored one goals in 15 games with the Aragonians, he was the first choice of coach Leo Franco, but he was fired and Longo lost that starting spot with new boss Francisco. Later Enric Gallego was signed and Longo ended leaving the club during the winter window, and he ended the campaign playing at Serie B club U.S. Cremonese.

The Italian attacker is the ninth signing for Deportivo ahead of the Segunda season 2019/20. The previous reinforcements that joined the club are goalkeeper Koke Vegas, centre-back Vassilios Lampropoulos, left-back Luis Ruiz, centre midfielder Peru Nolaskoain, winger Borja Galán, playmakers Ager Aketxe and Gaku Shibasaki, plus striker Mamadou Koné.
