Deportivo already tied its worst mark after spending 17 games without winning; it means that a different result from the victory will mean that this is the worst Depor in history. The Galicians are currently at the bottom of every statistical department in the league, been the worst local team, the worst visitant, the worst defence and are penultimate in offense, they have scored 14 goals, only Albacete Balompié have scored less (13).

Meanwhile, Real Zaragoza arrive to the meeting been the sixth place at the standings, which gives a spot in the promotion playoff. But the feeling is that the team is not at the top of its form after been mixing good and bad results. Their main problem is the defence, they have allowed 21 goals in 18 games, which is only the 12th best mark in the league.

Real Zaragoza have visited the Riazor in thirteen opportunities during this century (league competitions); within the period they added two victories and six draws, and their last game there was the 3-1 loss from last season.

With the matchday having four games on Friday and three on Saturday, Depor will start this match knowing that it needs more than two victories in order to leave the pit. And with the first round ending soon, the signs of desperation are already evident in the environment. It just increases the pressure over the team and a board of directors that maintains the silence with the annual shareholder meeting taking place in just one week.

Meanwhile, coach Luis César Sampedro is trying to stay sidelined from the pressure. He has found stability in the 4-3-3 and his team is coming from straight clean sheets, now he needs to find goals, and for that he is planning to make a modification up front exchanging the positions of Víctor Mollejo and Ager Aketxe.

He has scored three times and almost always was the most dangerous player at the Galician side, and that taking in mind he has been playing on the right wing despite he is left-footed, and now Luis César is asking him to perform at the centre of the attack in the main measure to fix the lack of goals. Mollejo is coming from wasting four good chances in the goalless draw with CD Lugo.

After a couple of bad years, Real Zaragoza is finally fighting for the first places with the return of Víctor Fernández. But the results haven’t been stable and the Aragonians see the visit to the Riazor as the opportunity to solidify their position among the first six places. The coach has been trying to be cautious and warns in every opportunity that a lot is still to be done, and the media also follows the same path, this mainly for the injury cases that have been hitting the squad.

Team news: Midfielder José Raúl Gutiérrez ‘Guti’ is suspended, while there are four players out for injury reasons: Goalkeeper Cristian Álvarez (hamstring, centre-back Francisco Atienza (knee sprain), right-back Carlos Vigaray (hamstring) and playmaker Alberto Zapater (knee ligaments).

Man to watch: Striker Luis Suárez. The Colombian attacker has been on fire during the season and already netted 11 goals after 17 presentations.
