River Plate has rejected the first offer for Radamel Falcao, but Depor Sport informed on Friday the negotiations still opened and that the Colombian striker will push in order to find an exit from the Argentinean club. About the case of the right winger, Depor's paper is appointing to Christian Wilhelmsson as the main target of Lendoiro.

Depor Sport confirmed on Friday that River Plate has rejected the offer for Radamel Falcao (21), the Colombian forward that's Depor's main target in order to reinforce the striking zone. The same source claims the offer presented by Deportivo was for $12.4 million (€8.43 million), and that the proposal was rejected because the Argentinean club doesn't want to lose another striker after selling Marcos Rub?©n to Villarreal (he was loaned to Recreativo de Huelva on Thursday).

However, Depor Sport appoints the rejection from River Plate isn't 'definitive' and that in fact, several officials inside the Argentinean club are giving their approval to the operation. And the president of River Plate, Jos?© Mar?a Aguilar, has talked with Galician sportpaper Deporte Campe??n about this matter. He recognised the existence of the offer, as he said: "Deportivo sent a fax in which they offer an important amount, something like twelve million dollars for the player."

Despite River Plate doesn't want to sell the striker, Aguilar appointed that he wants to study the conditions and the method of payment, leaving in this way an open door for the operation "We need to know what's the method of payment for this amount before to make any valorisation, before to analyse the possibility of allowing the exit of one of our best players. At the beginning, we don't want to see that occurring. We are just waiting for the answer from Deportivo."

Meanwhile, Deport Sport speculates that Falcao is pushing for an exit to Europe and that his agent, N?©stor S?vori, will talk with River's officials in order to find a solution. The paper also speculates that despite the Argentinean club could start the Torneo Clausura 2008 without Marco Rub?©n and Radamel Falco, they have enough power up front with Al?©xis Su??rez (19) and Juan Ignacio Antonio (20), two young strikers that are a pushing for a starting role in River's first squad.

Depor Sport also talked with coach Lotina about this subject, the Basque coach assured that Falcao was one of the names he put over the desk during a previous conversation with Lendoiro "I don't know what kind of offer was presented by the president, but it's true that Falcao was the name I mentioned during the first meeting with him, but after the reunion, we called to Argentina and they gave us numbers that are prohibitive. Since then, I didn't have news. He's a great player, but about the economic subject... In any case, I know the president is hardly working trying to reinforce the squad. He has been working for a whole month, but it isn't easy because the winter market is tough and also for the current state of the team."

The other position that Deportivo is trying to reinforce is the right wing, Depor Sport gave a list of four candidates on Thursday, and on Friday's issue, the paper emphasised that now, the main target of the club is Christian Wilhelmsson (28), the Swedish player that's currently performing at Bolton Wanderers.

Depor Sport appoints that despite been playing with the Premiership club, Wilhelmsson belongs to Nantes in France and that Deportivo is trying to arrange a new loan deal that will last until the end of the present campaign. The article also emphasises that a buyout option will exist in case the Galician squad decides to secure a permanent deal. No amounts were revealed about this option.

Wilhelmsson (nicknamed 'the magician') has played in five clubs so far: Mj?¤llby AIF (Sweden), Stab?¦k IF (Norway), RSC Anderlecht (Belgium), FC Nantes (France), AS Roma (Italy) and Bolton Wanderers (England). He has been unlucky after his departure from Nantes, affected by injuries and discarded by the coaches, Wilhelmsson didn't have too many chances at Roma and in Bolton he hasn't made any appearance in the starting eleven during the present season. The Malmo-born winger has also played 43 games with his national team, matches in which he has scored three goals.

The paper of Deportivo also assured that the negotiations for Wilhelmsson are more advanced than the ones of Marcos Sebasti??n Aguirre (23) and Nabil El-Zahar (21), two of the three cases appointed as targets on Thursday's edition. About this last two cases, the source just informs that this players continue to be targets although no advances were reported. In fact, the agent of Marcos Aguirre, Fernando Constantino, talked in Radio Galega and assured that Deportivo already contacted him a few weeks ago, but that the negotiations didn't continue after that.
