Claudio Beauvue is the third signing of the winter window. He joined the team on Saturday and was included in the roster for the game against Cádiz CF.

The club announced on Saturday that Claudio Benoît Beauvue has signed for Deportivo after rescinding with RC Celta. He agreed a contract lasting until 2021, though there’s a release clause in case of demotion at the end of the current campaign.

Beauvue has a French passport, but was born in Guadeloupe, and he also perform for the Guadeloupe national team. He can play as left winger or striker. He made the major part of his career in France, with his major highlight joining Lyon in 2015 in a four-year deal with the French side paying €4.5 million.

The true is that it wasn’t a good stage for him. He is more a physical player that shines for his speed, and that didn’t fit with the Lyon’s style of play, which was more focused on passing and possession. Still, RC Celta were impressed with him and, in the winter window of 2016, the Galicians paid €5 million and the attacker signed a five-year deal with them.

His career at the Galician neighbor was neither good, mainly due to the injuries. Just three months after signing for RC Celta, Beauvue suffered an Achilles injury at the end of the first half against Real Betis; he wasn’t going to play anymore during the season 2015/16 (10 games, 1 goal scored).

In the following season, he only made 13 league appearances, mainly due to the injuries, though he had his moments in the Europa League, instance where he had an important participation. He came out from the bench in order to score the winning goal against Krasnodar (2-1, March 9, 2017), and months later he also came out from the bench at Old Trafford facing Manchester United and was close to score a goal that would have meant the pass to the final (May 11).

After that RC Celta lost the faith in him, so in his third season at the club he was sent on loan to CD Leganés, club where he had a respectful mark of 28 Primera appearances and two goals scored. Last season he was loaned to SM Caen, club that suffered the relegation from Ligue 1. Beauvue made 25 league appearances and scored three goals.

On the current campaign he has been sidelined by Celta’s officials, his contract was ending in June and the president didn’t allow him to play until his future is resolved. They tried to rescind his contract during the summer, but it was only possible for the winter window as los Celestes need the space in order to sign reinforcements in the attempt to avoid relegation.

Beauvue is the second player on this century that goes directly from RC Celta to Deportivo after the case with Goran Đorović (2001). He is also the third signing of the winter window after Emre Çolak and Sabin Merino.
