MATCHDAY 25: MOVERS AND SHAKERS

Cádiz CF regained the top spot at Segunda División, while Deportivo are out of relegation for the first time in four months.

The streaks are starting to change things at the standings. Cádiz CF suffered more of what was expected against last place Racing Santander and needed a goal in added time to clinch the three points (1-0). The Andalusians are back at the first place as UD Almeria suffered an unexpected defeat.

Los Rojiblancos had chained three straight victories, but they suffered a surprising defeat a home facing Elche CF (0-2). The latter club was coming after four games without wins and the success allow them to reach the sixth place. It’s the first time since matchday 8 with Elche CF in promotion seats.

Meanwhile, SD Huesca kept the third spot after a 2-1 win over CD Lugo. The Aragonians have spent five games without defeats and aspire to reach direct promotion. Their neighbors, Real Zaragoza, are the most in-form team [together with Depor] and chained a third straight win after a 1-0 success over CD Numancia, they are fourth.

CF Fuenlabrada keep the fifth position despite their decreasing performance. The Madrilenians have spent seven games without victories, this time they lost visiting Sporting Gijón (1-0). UD Las Palmas are also in a bump, the Canarians have only added 4 of the last 15 points in dispute. In this matchday they only got a goalless draw hosting CD Tenerife despite playing with one more player for 70 minutes. Girona FC also failed to move to higher ground after a 1-1 draw hosting Real Oviedo.

Deportivo have left the drop zone for the first time in four months. The Galicians chained a fifth straight victory after a 0-1 success at Albacete Balompié. Another team moving forward was Málaga CF, the Andalusians chained seven games without defeats after a 2-2 draw hosting CD Mirandés, though they should feel disappointed too as the game was 2-1 by minute 79.

CD Lugo have lost three of their last four games and are back in relegation places, while Extremadura UD could only add a point visiting Rayo Vallecano (1-1). It isn’t a bad result, but they remain penultimate, three points away from safety. Finally, AD Alcorcón remain in safe waters after a 3-1 win over SD Ponferradina.

MATCHDAY 26: WAR AT THE TOP
Difficult games for the leaders. Cádiz CF visit fourth place Real Zaragoza in the most interesting meeting of the matchday, while runners-up UD Almeria visit CD Numancia, one of the best locals in the league. There’s also an interesting meeting with fifth place CF Fuenlabrada entertaining eighth place Girona FC.

Deportivo will host a crumbling UD Las Palmas. The matchday in completed with other seven games: CD Tenerife Vs. Sporting Gijón; Extremadura UD Vs. CD Lugo; SD Ponferradina Vs.
