Deportivo and Real Zaragoza are the two most in-form teams at Segunda División. The Galicians have added 16 of the last 18 points in dispute, in the same frame the Aragonians added 12 points. Also, both teams are among the three that haven’t lost yet in 2020 (the other team is Rayo Vallecano). In the case of Real Zaragoza, they are the only outfit that hasn’t been trailing in the new year.

Also, Real Zaragoza is the sixth best home team in the league, this after adding 25 points in 14 meetings at La Romareda. Their only three home defeats came facing Cádiz CF (0-2), CD Mirandés (1-2) and Albacete Balompié (0-1).

This is the 35th visit of Deportivo to Real Zaragoza playing for a league competition; the Galicians have won in 11 opportunities a La Romareda. Depor have won the last two after seven games without winning there, last season Los Blanquiazules added the three points thanks to the goal by Pedro Sánchez.

DEPORTIVO: KEEPING THE SYSTEM
Coach Fernando Vázquez has said that the switch in the system is inevitable, but for now he will keep playing with three centre-backs. Not even the injury of Michele Somma will change is mind as he prepares to repeat the scheme that has brought good results in recent matchdays. The coach has tested the same lineup that was on the pitch against Girona FC after the Italian suffered his injury, this means with Nolaskoain acting as a centre-back and Álex Bergantiños performing at midfield.

Team news: Salva Ruiz, Michele Somma and Claudio Beauvue are the players at the injury room. Vicente Gómez is suspended, while David Simón and Christian Santos weren’t picked for the game.

Man to watch: Midfielder Peru Nolaskoain. The Athletic loanee has improved a lot with Fernando Vázquez, he is the motor at midfield, but now he will have to perform as a centre-back due to Somma’s injury. He visits the team club that fought hard for him during the summer, a team that has scored at least once in 11 of their last 13 official meetings.

Picked players: (18) Dani Giménez, Aleksandar Jovanović (goalkeepers); Eneko Bóveda, Javi Montero, Mujaid Sadick, Luis Ruiz (defenders); Álex Bergantiños, Gaku Shibasaki, Peru Nolaskoain, Uche Agbo, Ager Aketxe, Emre Çolak, Víctor Mollejo, Keko Gontán (midfielders) Mamadou Koné, Borja Valle, Hugo Vallejo & Sabin Merino (attackers)

Predicted lineup: (5-4-1) Dani Giménez – Bóveda, Nolaskoain, Mujaid, Montero, Mollejo – Aketxe, Álex Bergantiños, Gaku Shibasaki, Çolak – Sabin Merino.

REAL ZARAGOZA: ENJOYING
It has been a while since the fans of Real Zaragoza have enjoyed with their team. Los Maños have spent seven straight seasons of disappointments, but everything has changed for this campaign. The club’s officials made a great job during the summer building up a solid team despite only having the 13th best salary cap in the league (€ 8.18 million).

The rest was added by Víctor Fernández, the ex-Depor is living his third stage as Zaragoza’s boss and lasted in doing it, but his team is currently playing the best football at Segunda and it has been useful to reach a direct promotion slot after achieving great results in 2020. It seems they will end up at Primera División, a league they don’t visit since the campaign 2012/13.

Team news: Shinji Kagawa and Luis García were picked for the game, but it’s not sure that they will play, actually one of them could end out of the meeting as the coach picked nineteen players. Both attackers are dragging physical problems. Left-back defender Carlos Nieto is out suspended, while André Pereira, Javier Ros and Alberto Zapater are out injured.

Man to watch: Attacker Javier Puado. He is only 21 and can perform in every position in attack, and the Catalan player has had a great impact at the team after arriving from RCD Espanyol as the backup for Raphael Dwamena.  With him on the pitch the Aragonians have passed from adding the 48% of the points to add the 71%.  In 12 meetings, he has scored three goals and also provided three assists. He scored at the Riazor in the game of the first round (1-3). A good alternative to Luis Suárez and Javier Ros.

Picked players: (19) Cristian Álvarez, Álvaro Ratón (goalkeepers);  Carlos Vigaray, Jawad El Yamiq, Alberto Guitián, Pichu Atienza, Julián Delmás, Enrique Clemente (defenders); Dani Torres, Alberto Soro, James Igbekeme, Raúl Guti, Íñigo Eguaras (midfielders); Shinji Kagawa, Álex Blanco, Miguel Linares. Javi Puado, Burgui & Luis Suárez (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-4-2) Cristian Álvarez - Vigaray, Pichu Atienza, El Yamiq, Clemente - Soro, Eguaras, Raúl Guti, Igbekeme - Puado, Burgui.
