The club confirmed on Wednesday the signing of Abdoulaye Ba. The Senegalese centre-back is the replacement for Somma and arrives loaned from Rayo Vallecano.

Deportivo announced on Wednesday the signing of Abdoulaye Ba. The 29-year-old centre back arrives loaned from Rayo Vallecano until the end of the season and is the replacement for Michele Somma, who suffered a knee injury two weeks ago. La Liga allowed this inscription as the Italian defender will be out for more than five months, which is a requirement to make a signing outside of the transfer window.

Abdoulaye Ba is a Senegalese centre-back with more shadows than success in his career, because he has always been pointed out as defender that commits silly penalties and that has big lagoons defending properly. He was signed in 2012 by FC Porto, but was quickly sidelined from starting roles after committing errors, one of them was a penalty that cost the Cup final in 2013. Since then he started a series of loan spells without too many success, he played for Fenerbahçe in Turkey and also for Rayo Vallecano at Primera.

And it was the Madrilenian club the side that offered him a contract after ending his link with FC Porto in 2017. He signed a four-year-deal and again he brought more problems than solutions. Depor’s fans should remember him from his terrible game against Depor on January 30, 2015, game in which he committed penalty that cost the game to his side (1-2).

Last season he was a normal starter in a team that suffered the relegation at Primera, and for the current Segunda tournament he hasn’t debuted yet as coach Paco Jémez prefers the options of Esteban Saveljich and Alejandro Catena. His lonely official appearance was to play 64 minutes in the Copa game against Tarazona (December 17).
