Deportivo search for a victory that will pave the way to the permanence. Fernando Vázquez recovers several of the ‘normal’ starters facing a team that’s already at Segunda B.

Referee: Dámaso Arcediano Monescillo
VAR Official: Aitor Gorostegui Fernández Ortega
Kick-off: 17h00 CET (Riazor)

Deportivo lost at Málaga CF in midweek, it was the only team that was remaining undefeated since the lockdown. The Galicians have turned to be a strong home team during 2020 and this can be noticed by the home performance. They have now spent ten games without defeats at the Riazor, it’s the second-best mark in the league only behind CD Tenerife (11).

Meanwhile, Extremadura UD arrive to the meeting already relegated. And this occurred for the negative streak they are living, especially playing on the road, because they have spent eight away games without victories, it’s the second worst mark in the league only above CD Numancia (10).

This is only the fourth time that a club from Extremadura visits the Riazor, this club was founded in 2007 and last season they added the three points (1-2). The previous version of the club was CF Extremadura, side that visited twice the Riazor during the 1990’s, in the first game they lost 1-0 (1996/97) and later got a 1-1 draw (1998/99).

Depor cannot certify the permanence with a victory in this game, mathematically in the best scenario it would need an additional point, but this game is considered to be key for the permanence as the last two will be against teams that are fighting for the playoffs and it means a more difficult task.

Coach Fernando Vázquez knows this and made rotations for the past game at Málaga CF, now the starters that have given better results will be back. It means to see Borja Valle acting again as centre midfielder or to see Christian Santos at the centre of the attack, always keeping the system with three centre-backs.

Team news: Peru Nolaskoain is recovered from an ankle problem, but he will miss the game due to tonsillitis. Uche Agbo, Salva Ruiz and Somma are the other players at the injury room. Juan Rodríguez, Iago Gandoy and Jorge Valín from the academy are on the roster.

Man to watch: Playmaker Ager Aketxe.  The Basque player has been the best man at Depor in recent games, now the team needs him in a crucial match for the permanence.

Picked players: (23) Dani Giménez, Aleksandar Jovanović, (goalkeepers); Eneko Bóveda, David Simón, Mujaid Sadick, Abdoulaye Ba, Javi Montero, Juan Rodríguez, Luis Ruiz, Jorge Valín (defenders); Álex Bergantiños, Vicente Gómez, Gaku Shibasaki, Ager Aketxe, Iago Gandoy, Víctor Mollejo, Emre Çolak, Keko Gontán, Hugo Vallejo (midfielders); Borja Valle, Christian Santos, Claudio Beauvue & Sabin Merino (attackers)

Predicted lineup: (5-3-2) Dani Giménez – David Simón, Mujaid, Álex Bergantiños, Montero, Luis Ruiz – Borja Valle, Gaku, Aketxe – Mollejo, Christian Santos.
The stage of Extremadura UD at Segunda División has been really short, Los Azulgranas were playing their second season at the second tier and now they are going back to Segunda B. the curiosity is that they  were the only relegated-troubled team that didn’t change the coach throughout the season. Ex-Depor Manu Mosquera arrived last season and saved the team, but the miracle wasn’t possible in this opportunity.

Team news: Since nothing is at stake, it’s expected that Mosquera will make changes, starting with the debut of Chilean goalie Gonzalo Collao. Besides, striker Kike Márquez, midfielders Roberto Olabe and Víctor Pastrana, plus playmaker Sergio Gil are injured, while centre-back José Antonio Pardo is suspended.

Man to watch: Winger Óscar García ‘Pinchi’. The ex-Fabril attacker left A Coruña searching for opportunities and fond a spot at Extremadura UD. He has scored twice after 36 league appearances on this season.

Picked players: (19) Casto Espinosa, Louis Yamaguchi, Gonzalo Collao (goalkeepers); Álex Díez, Charalampos Stamboulidis, Ángel Bastos, Fran Cruz, José Antonio Pardo, Borja Granero, Lluis Mirambel (defenders); Giovanni Zarfino, David González ‘Nono’, Cristian Rodríguez, David Rocha, Emmanuel Lomotey (midfielders); Álex Alegría, Airam Cabrera, Óscar García ‘Pinchi’ &Álex López (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-4-2) Collao - Álex Díez, Fran Cruz, Granero, Bastos – Pinchi, Rocha, Pardo, Nono – Álex Alegría, Zarfino.
