Derik Osede is the tenth and last signing for the season 2020/21. The centre-backs is covering the slot left by the departure of Michele Somma.

The club announced on deadline day the signing of Derik Osede. The 27-year-old centre-back is signing a one-year contract and covers the slot left by Michele Somma. It’s a free transfer after the player ended his contract with CD Numancia.

Osede is Nigerian, but also has a Spanish passport. Born in Madrid to a Nigerian father and a Spanish mother, the key in his career was to sign for Real Madrid. It opened the opportunities to him, though later he had problems to succeed in his next clubs.

The centre-back was usually picked for the youth teams in Spain, from the U-16 to the U-21. In 2012, he won the UEFA European Championship with U-19 Spain performing at the centre of the defence alongside Jonás Ramalho.

With Real Madrid Castilla, he made 29 appearances at Segunda and 22 at Segunda B in a frame of three seasons (2012-2015). There was no room for him at the first team, so when his contract ended, he was signed by Bolton Wanderers, club that was playing at the Championship. The Madrilenian player spent three seasons there, in his first year The Trotters suffered the relegation, only to bounce back one year later.

Osede returned to Spain in 2018 and signed for CD Numancia, club where he didn’t meet the expectations. In his first year there, he only made 11 appearances, the reason was that coach López Garai preferred the options of Atienza and Carlos Gutiérrez for the central positions. Last year things were better after he made 25 appearances at Liga SmartBank, but the team suffered the demotion.

Osede is the tenth and final signing ahead of the season 2020/21. Previously, Deportivo signed goalkeepers Carlos Abad and Lucho García, centre-back Borja Granero, left-back Héctor Hernández, midfielder Celso Borges, left wingers José Alonso Lara and Ignacio González, plus strikers Rui Costa and Nicolas Fedor ‘Miku’.
