Deportivo will try to surpass the traumatic defeat with Celta B and end the year with a smile as the team returns to compete in Copa del Rey. The rival also competes at Segunda B and is going through a bad moment.

Referee: Leandro Carbajales Gómez
Kick-off: 17h00 CET (Riazor)

CD El Ejido was founded in 2012 after the disappearance of Polideportivo El Ejido, and this is their debut in Copa Del Rey after been promoted from Tercera on last season. Meanwhile, Deportivo is a frustrated team, not only for their most recent demotion, but also for their poor run in Copa during recent years.

The Galicians have only won three of their last twelve games in this tournament and never passed the second round within the last decade. The last time Depor passed two rounds in Copa was for the campaign 2010/11; at the time Los Blanquiazules were at Primera and advanced two rounds to end failing in quarterfinals against UD Almería (agg. 2-4).

Despite the league season doesn’t have a big number of games, coach Fernando Vázquez was despising the second competition in Spanish football, the Copa Del Rey. This after believing that the final rounds are designed for the big clubs, “We aren’t going to forget this last game. If this game has any importance it has to do with the aftertaste that a defeat leaves when you don’t play until January 10. The Cup is not a tournament in which we have to get involved. It gives me the feeling that it is there for the great teams to appear in the quarterfinals " He said after the defeat with Celta B.

But by Wednesday the coach had changed his mind. He was going to pick several players from Fabril, but the defeat with Celta B changed everything and ended only picking the 18 men available at the first team, now he was talking of the need of a victory in order to spend the holidays with another perspective.

Still, there will be some rotations at the starting eleven. It’s expected that goalkeeper Lucho García is going to make his first appearance in an official game, while men like Miku and José Lara are going to have a new opportunity.

Team news: Derik Osede is back after been out for two months due to an Achilles injury, but Jorge Valin and Salva Ruiz are out after picking knocks in the game with Celta B. Both men join Keko Gontán at the injury room.

Man to watch: Striker Miku. One of the disappointments on the season, the Venezuelan attacker hasn’t shown anything after been signed as an important player during the summer, now this is his big opportunity to shine and find a spot in a competitive striking line.

Picked players: (18) Carlos Abad, Lucho García (goalkeepers); Eneko Bóveda, Mujaid Sadick, Borja Granero, Derik Osede, Héctor Hernández (defenders); Álex Bergantiños, Celso Borges, Uche Agbo, Nacho González, Borja Galán, José Lara, Iago Gandoy (midfielders); Claudio Beauvue, Rui Costa, Diego Rolan & Miku (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (4-4-2) Lucho García – Bóveda, Mujaid, Borja Granero, Héctor Hernández – Gandoy, Álex Bergantiños, Uche Agbo, Lara – Miku, Beauvue.
CD El Ejido had an explosive debut at Segunda B, they added 7 of the first 9 points in dispute and things were looking promising. But suddenly things drastically changed, since matchday 4 the team has only added 1 of the 15 points disputed, and Los Celestes passed from been the leader in the subgroup to be in the relegation zone.

At least the club is taking the competition seriously, after the 4-0 defeat at Córdoba CF (the biggest on the season), coach Tito Garcia Sanjuan made a ten-hour trip in bus to A Coruña and picked all the players available for the game.

Team news: Striker b>Jon Etxaniz is back after suffering a muscle injury during a training session (November 12). The rest of the team is the same that lost 4-0 at Córdoba CF, actually the team traveled directly from Córdoba to A Coruña in a ten-hour trip by bus. Three players from the B squad were picked for the game: Jesús Beas, Pablo Checa and Raúl Botía.

Man to watch: Left winger Juanje Argüez. It’s a special game for the Andalusian winger, he played with Fabril during the Segunda B season 2018/19 and didn’t have good luck as the team suffered the relegation. Two years later he will play at the Riazor been a normal starter with CD El Ejido.

Picked players: (20) Jesús Godino, Cristián Arco (goalkeepers); Iñigo Zubiri, Cristian Moreno, José Carlos Caballero, Adrián Cova, Javi Rosa (defenders); Sergio Parla, Lucas Ferraz, Bryan Zaragoza, Juan Antonio Arranz, Jesús Beas, Pablo Checa (midfielders); Juanje Argüez, Dani Cara, Sergio Pérez, Rodrigo Rivas, Miguel Olavide, Jon Etxaniz & Raúl Botía (attackers).

Predicted lineup: (5-2-2-1) Christian Arco - Adri Cova, Zubiri, Javi Rosa, Cristian Moreno, Checa - Toni Arranz, Bryan Zaragoza - Olavide, Juanje - Sergio Pérez.
